Choice Hotels to build new Cambria in Fort Mill, S.C.

Choice Hotels International signed an agreement with York Investment Properties to develop a new Cambria hotel in Fort Mill, S.C. The 124-room property will be located within the company’s mixed-use development site, which includes an apartment complex, planned retail center and proposed office space. The address is 335 Armistead Lane.

Expected to open in 2019, the Cambria Hotel Fort Mill will be located near several corporate offices, including AECOM, Prologix and Shutterfly, as well as Fort Mill attractions, Cedar Fair’s Carowinds amusement park and a network of hiking and biking trails. Fort Mill is also a suburb of Charlotte, N.C., home to several Fortune 500 companies, numerous leisure options and Charlotte International Airport.

“Fort Mill is known for its central location and increasing corporate population, making it an ideal market for the Cambria brand and guests traveling on business or leisure,” Mark Shalala, Choice Hotels’ VP of development, upscale brands, said in a statement. “As the Cambria brand continues to rapidly expand throughout the country, we look forward to providing guests with a new upscale lodging option in Fort Mill where they can treat themselves on the road.”

The Cambria Hotel Fort Mill includes flexible meeting spaces and a state-of-the-art-fitness center. The property will also include contemporary onsite dining, serving a menu comprised of area specialties, liquor, wine, and local craft beers, freshly prepared grab-and-go gourmet salads and sandwiches and a barista bar.

York Investment Properties is a family-run and experienced development company, which has successfully developed myriad real estate assets, ranging from commercial offices to multifamily communities.
